To us, homestead farming is more a way of life than a business. We were both fortunate enough to learn traditional methods of living from the garden and the land; myself from as far back as my great grandmother and Barney from both his grandparents. “Putting up” was a summer and fall activity that filled the larders and provided homemade and homegrown food sources that were healthy and cost effective. Although we are very much a part of the fast paced age of technology, we’ve continued to live close to the land before it was fashionable to be green; even when life kept us in the urban world. We are now fortunate to own a small farm in a less rural world and expand the pleasures of producing our own foods and sharing our life experiences with others. Welcome to Twin Maples Farm. Established in 1950 as an economic and homestead endeavor by the Arthurs, this farm produced registered Black Angus cattle and tobacco. Today, we raise llamas, miniature jersey cattle, free range hens, and a host of other critters, fruits and vegetables that provide a variety of food items and entertainment. |
